Airbnb and vacation rental sign maker
Pick a sign, fill in your hours or limits and print it: quiet hours, no smoking, no parties, shoes off, hot tub, pool and sauna rules, toilet paper only and more. Every sign comes out in your guests' language, with a second language underneath if you like.
- Free
- No sign-up
- Nothing you type is stored
Print it on A4 or US Letter, then laminate it or put it in a frame.
Quiet hours
Please keep the noise down between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
Our neighbours thank you!
How to use it
- 1Choose a sign, or write your own.
- 2Fill in what it needs: your quiet hours, the maximum number of guests, the pool or hot tub hours.
- 3Pick the language of the sign, and a second one for guests from abroad.
- 4Choose one sign per page, two per page or door hangers, then print it and laminate it or put it in a frame.
The signs a rental needs
A few clear signs answer the questions guests would otherwise message you about, and remind them of the rules they accepted when they booked:
| Sign | Where to put it | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Quiet hours | Entrance door, living room | Noise is what neighbours notice first |
| No smoking | Entrance, balcony door, bedrooms | Smoke smell costs you a deep clean and the next guest's review |
| No parties | Entrance | Airbnb has banned parties and events worldwide since 2022; the sign repeats your guest limit |
| Shoes off | Entrance | Saves your floors and rugs |
| Toilet paper only | Above the toilet | Wipes and sanitary products block pipes, septic tanks most of all |
| Hot tub, pool, sauna rules | Next to the tub, the pool gate, the sauna door | Safety rules guests can read before they get in |
| Keep doors closed, save energy | Next to the thermostat or the air conditioning | Heating and cooling an open house is expensive |
| Do not disturb | Door handle | B&Bs, private rooms and mid-stay cleaning (door hanger) |
Your WiFi details and check-out steps have their own makers: the WiFi QR code sign and check-out instructions.
Signs guests actually follow
- Say why. "Wipes block the pipes" works better than "Do not flush".
- Keep it short: a title and one or two lines. Long lists belong in your house rules or your welcome book.
- Thank guests instead of threatening them: a friendly sign gets followed and doesn't end up in a review.
- Use their language. Add a second language underneath for guests from abroad.
- Repeat your listing, don't add to it. Guests accept the rules in your listing when they book; a sign that adds new ones on arrival is hard to enforce.
Hot tub, pool and sauna rules
Heat and water are where things go wrong, so these signs are lists: shower first, no glass, children only with an adult, a maximum number of people, opening hours and how long to stay in. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission advises keeping hot tub water at 40 °C (104 °F) or below (CPSC). Some regions require fences, alarms or specific safety notices around pools at holiday rentals: check the rules where your rental is and what your insurance asks for.
Make them last
- Laminate the signs or print them on thick paper (160 to 250 g/m²); a cheap laminator pays for itself after a few signs.
- Frame the ones at eye level (entrance, living room) and stick the small ones (bathroom, light switches) with removable tape.
- Print two per page for small signs: you get two copies and save paper.
Frequently asked questions
What signs should I put up in my Airbnb?
The ones that prevent problems: quiet hours, no smoking, no parties, toilet paper only, and safety rules for a hot tub, pool or sauna if you have one. Put the WiFi details and the check-out steps on their own signs, and keep the long rules in your house rules or welcome book.
Can I make the signs in two languages?
Yes. Choose a second language and every line of the sign appears again in it, smaller and in italics. Text you write yourself on a custom sign stays in the language you type it in.
Do I need a hot tub or pool rules sign?
It depends on where your rental is: some places require posted rules or safety notices at holiday rentals, others don't. Either way, a clear list of rules next to the water tells guests about the risks before they get in.
Can I write my own sign?
Yes. Choose "Your own sign", type a title and one line per row, and print it in the same design as the other signs.
Is the sign maker free?
Yes. It's free, works without an account and nothing you type is uploaded: the sign is made in your browser.
